#WeMakeEvents and We Stand Together

UK Events Industry Value

It's safe to say that 2020 has been the strangest year of this millennium. The Covid-19 pandemic has seemingly affected the entire globe and has negatively impacted millions of businesses and individuals without discrimination. However, the events and hospitality sector has been especially damaged by the impacts of the virus and many within the industry are struggling to stay afloat under the current circumstances.

As seen in the image above, the UK events industry is an incredibly vibrant and lucrative sector that provides jobs for millions and entertainment for countless consumers. Losing even a fraction of this booming marketplace would have catastrophic implications for those involved in it and the UK as a whole. For more information on the topic and to see how you can help then please visit the wemakeevents.com website.

Honeybells is no different to many other companies that operate in the events and hospitality industry. 2020 was shaping up to be our busiest year yet and we were excited to be celebrating our 10 year anniversary at the end of the hectic season (which would have been around mid-September), with a good knees up alongside all those that have helped us to build the business over the past decade.

Alas, our 2020 calendar was decimated by the pandemic and the subsequent nationwide lockdown; meaning that instead of the Honeybells team erecting and taking down approximately 1,500 tents over the summer months, we barely managed 50 in total.

Honeybells Director, Ross had the following to say about how Covid-19 initially impacted the business: "When the restrictions were first implemented, we were attending to some maintenance work for our partners at the Camping and Caravan Club up in North Wales. They called us and basically told us to finish up and head home, which we begrudgingly did. We had a full schedule mapped out that included a host of other sites that we were hoping to visit and get up to scratch so their tents were ready for use at the start of the summer season. Unfortunately, this was only the start of the bad news for us."

In the words of the wonderful people at #WeMakeEvents: "Entertainment events around the world have been devastated, from major festivals, tours and landmark theatres, to grassroots venues and business events. Without major immediate support from national governments, the entire supply chain is at risk of collapse."

We stand TOGETHER with all of our peers in the events industry and sincerely hope that the government will come to the aid of the UK's superb events and hospitality sector.

We are VALUABLE, we are VIABLE, we need SUPPORT and we deserve BETTER.

If nothing changes then thousands of events across the UK could disappear, with countless talented individuals consequently losing their livelihoods. Just imagine a world without some of your favourite events or activities... This could be a reality if the situation remains as it is.
