Former Honeybells' employee raising money for Veterans Hub

Veterans Hub Fundraiser

Honeybells has been fortunate to have had some wonderful individuals work for the company since our inception a decade ago. Due to the nature of the business, most of the guys who come on board with us do so during the summer as that is our busy period and then leave to return to university or move onto their next venture.

With no disrespect to the rest of our 'seasonal staff', Phil Armstrong is and always has been a little more than that, he is a loved by everyone at Honeybells and is good friends with owners Ross and Sam. Phil has been a part of the Honeybells journey for some time now, working a numbers of summers as well as attending to business during the quieter winter months, accompanying Ross and the full-time team across the country as we maintained safari tents for our partners at the Camping and Caravan Club.

After spending the last couple of years abroad in Thailand, Phil returned to the UK and helped Honeybells when he could but due to the pandemic, this proved to provide limited opportunities for both parties. However, Phil is not one to sit still and the former Royal Marine Commando has agreed to take one of the biggest challenges of his life.

On Wednesday 21st October, Phil began a gruelling 600+ mile walk around the coast of the UK in order to raise awareness and money for a charity that is very close to his heart, Veterans Hub Weymouth & Portland CIC. Having served in the military for almost half of his life, Phil has achieved some incredible feats and this will be just another impressive challenge conquered that the humble Phil will undoubtedly brush off when asked about the adventure in years to come.

Carrying approximately 20kg of kit on his back, Phil will be aiming to complete the monstrous trek in just 5 weeks; meaning that he will be walking around 15 miles a day. Ever positive, Phil had the following to say about the challenge ahead - 'I'm looking forward to the challenge and I know that I'll see some beautiful parts of the country. Also, it's for a great cause, one that really means a lot to me, giving me all the motivation I need. I just wanted to get started!'

Phil is someone who Honeybells feels truly blessed to have had represent the business as Phil often proves to be a customer favourite due to his infectious smile and charming demeanour. It also helps that he is one of the hardworking and driven individuals that you're likely to encounter.

The Honeybells team couldn't be prouder of Phil and wish him all the best ahead of this mammoth challenge.
